Job Description:
The Revenue Management team manages day to day and long-term strategic revenue optimization for WestJet. What is Revenue Management? It isn’t accounting and it exists in many industries. It is why roses cost more on Valentine’s Day than the week after, why hotel rooms in Las Vegas cost more on the weekend than mid-week, and why sometimes there are seat sales for flights many months in advance. Using forecasts of future demand and continual re-optimization of fares, in-depth analysis and market strategy, the Revenue Management team balances guest promise with supply and demand. Revenue Management is a blend of art and science that requires the combination of strategic thinking and business acumen and an acute ability to make high impact decisions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and effectively communicate market/pricing strategies to leadership team and teammates
- Assist in implementing business process changes and new reporting
- Analyze changes in market conditions such as capacity, competition, schedules and inventory to develop, implement and track appropriate forecast and seat inventory strategies with the objective to achieve and exceed PRASM targets
- Recommend improvements to processes and reports
- Responsible for developing, leading, and executing complex financial and strategic revenue management initiatives to support department and corporate initiatives and projects to directly enhance revenue and profitability throughout the WestJet and WestJet Encore route network
- Extract and manipulate large data sets to regularly analyze competitive landscape, devise strategies and evaluate results
- Demonstrate ownership and fulfill assigned collateral duty and ad-hoc projects successfully
- Work closely with Network and Schedule Planning, Marketing, Sales, IT, Alliances, Rewards, Vacations, Product and Revenue
- Accounting to jointly achieve network and revenue goals
- Assist in implementing new business process changes and reporting
- Monitor KPI performance, proactively adjusting and communicating strategies needed to meet goals
- Demonstrate initiative consistently and manage a more challenging scope of markets in terms of unit revenue and business growth with limited supervision
Job Requirements:
- Business Acumen: Excellent communication and presentation skills and a unique ability to bridge the communication gap between executive and front-line audiences
- Able to effectively translate big ideas and complex market-based developments into digestible sound bites for executives as well as analysts
- Understanding and application of principles, concepts and practices of Pricing and RM theory
- Have a strong attention to detail and regularly make complex decisions with limited information on short timeframes.
- Comfortably deal with uncertain outcomes in a highly complex and rapidly changing environment. Able to work effectively alone and in a group environment
Qualifications & Experience:
- 1-5 years in an analytical role or role incorporating business decision making in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, MS Office, PROS or other Revenue Management system, DDS, SRS Analyzer, Sabre, Infare considered an asset
