Job Description:

This is a regular part-time position (up to 24 hours per week). This competition is open to external applicants and all employees of Fanshawe College; however, applications from Regular Part-time (RPT) members of the Part-time Support Staff bargaining unit will be given first considerati

Job Responsibilities:

• Regular communication with students, faculty and clients as well as assisting with the promotion of the salon through social media posts
• Managing the day-to-day business operations of the Hair Salon including inventory, client-booking, sales and cash handling, operating and maintaining the booking software system, ensuring reception is managed appropriately, ordering supplies, and overall organization
• Supervising students in opposite classroom from instructor, assisting students with the practical lab work, instructing and supervising students in the daily operation of the Salon
• Supporting Instructors by setting-up equipment and preparing supplies, operating and recording the camera and feed to multiple classrooms, prepping student hair kits
• Reconciling cash and debit settlements daily and reporting on salon operations when live clients are participating
• Managing student duty-schedule in the salon
• Managing safety protocols and ensuring appropriate safety equipment and supplies, including PPE, are available and worn

Qualification & Experience:

• Minimum 6 months experience working in a college hairstyling salon
• Trade certificate in Hairstyling or Diploma in Hairstyling or Esthetics
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a hair salon
• Experience in managing or owning a salon is an asset
